Friday Links – Social Media Done RIGHT!

Collectively, there is a ton of blog reading by employees at MarketNet.  Blogs allow us to stay on top of emerging trends, insightful ideas, and leading strategies for success in the world of “Interactive.”  Today’s “Friday Links” post focuses on not just social media, but social media done RIGHT.

HOW TO:  Track Social Media Analytics
I just noticed that I have 45 blog entries from Mashable bookmarked in my blog reader .  Why so many?  Well, probably because it’s THE go-to spot on the Internet for everything social media.  The blog post linked above is something MarketNet is very interested in – measuring social media marketing progress.  Our goal is to demonstrate ROI on all client efforts, no matter the channel.  This post is a great introduction to measuring social media efforts, beginning with isolating exactly what you want to track.

Diving into Social Media Marketing?  How a Social Media Consultant Can Help
As more and more companies hear the buzz about social media, tons of questions arise.  How do we get started?  What is our strategy?  How is this medium to be approached differently than anything we’re doing online?  These are all great questions, and really just the tip of the iceberg.  Keep in mind that you have one chance to get social media “right.”  With this in mind, the blog post linked above explores how to get started, and most importantly, when to get help!

Guy Kawasaki’s Reality Check:  Worth Your Time
Guy Kawasaki an author, speaker, famed blogger, and all-around Internet guru.  His latest book is a powerhouse of information that details strategies on beating your competition from multiple (and connected) angles.  This blog entry is a great interview with Guy that provides some detailed insight as to how he approaches challenges, and his opinions on where we’re at today.  I’ll be picking up his new book this weekend for sure.

How The Social Contract Between People and Brands Will Evolve
Jeremiah Owyang is a social media analyst for Forrester Research, and to say he’s “in tune” with what’s happening with all things social media would be an understatement.  Jeremiah’s insight cannot be touched IMHO.  His blog is the single blog that I hope to see daily posts from as all of his content is worth it’s weight (maybe more) in gold.  In this blog entry, Jeremiah explores relationships between companies / marketers and the end user, with details on the need for a new “digital social contract.”  This post really frames where we’ve been, where we are, and how social media is changing business marketing practices.  Fantastic read.

MarketNet would love YOUR links to the week’s best content.  Feel free to list them in the comment area below.

Have a wonderful weekend!
