With the launch of our own new background design and working on various client backgrounds (check us out on Twitter @marketnet), we have some do’s and don’ts that we would like to share. There are as many approaches to profile presentation as there are types of people. And while we never discourage individuals and brands from creative presentation, these basic tips should help anyone present themselves well on a profile page.
1. Do Maintain Brand Consistency. It only makes sense…but do it right. Making your logo as the background, doesn’t work for everyone. My feeling is that if your brand recognition is so great that if you put a piece of fruit as your background and everyone knows you sell computers, then by all means go for it. But if you’re like the rest of us, we can do a bit more. Brand is more than just your logo; it’s both brand image and experience. Twitter really lends itself to offering a brand experience with the full image background. In early March 2009, Facebook began pushing a package of enhanced metric reporting to page administrators as a follow-up to redesigned pages for businesses, celebrities, bands and other non-personal entities.
Facebook’s rollout of these features coincided with MarketNet’s launch of a social media campaign for a new client, which afforded me an excellent opportunity to get to know the new Facebook Insights on a brand-new campaign with fresh data. When you think of Quality Assurance, what comes to mind? For many folks it’s hard to pin down and get a definitive answer. Typically you’ll hear something like “Making sure the software I bought works.” Or “Knowing that new car I just drove off the lot is going to last longer than it will take to pay it off.” Some focus on Quality alone, offering a broad sweeping statement such as “I’m not entirely sure, but I know it when I see it. Better yet, I know it when it’s not there.” In all instances these are correct, although they still miss the point. Suffice it to say Quality Assurance means many things to many people. In order to come up with an agreeable definition, specific for our industry, we need ever so briefly consider where Quality in its modern concept originated.
