Do You Ever Stay Current on Your Feeds?

I’m curious to know how many of you out there use feed readers. I’m also wondering how many of you EVER get caught up on your feeds. I personally don’t know (yet) of anyone who actually DOES use a feed reader and gets caught up on all their feeds daily, or even weekly.

In lieu of a Friday Links post, I thought I’d post this question and see how most people handle it. Alright, it’s a series of curiosities, I suppose. I found myself wanting to engage you guys more than share today. So let’s get into this Q&A. What say you?

Question(s) of the Week:

  1. Which feed reader do you use?
  2. How many feeds do you subscribe to? (ballpark)
  3. How often do you really catch up on ALL your feeds?

So that’s my question(s) of the week. My short but sweet answers after the jump.

My answers:

  1. I use Google Reader – tried a few others, but GR is my preference.
  2. I’m always subscribed to at least 50-60 feeds (sometimes more) among 10 categories.
  3. I catch up on all of them once a quarter at best. I really subscribe to more feeds than I care to read regularly.

Have a great weekend. Stay safe.

I don't use a feed reader. There's just not enough places I care to visit on a regular basis. I read maybe five websites / blogs on a regular basis, but I just visit them through bookmarks.

I never understood feed readers. If someone could 'splain it to me, maybe I'd use one.

    I use google reader too.
I have 63 feeds, but at least 1/2 of them don't blog regularly.
But I read them every day or every other day.
I skim through ones without an interesting blog title.
I tend to read at nap time or when the kids are occupied watching a movie or something.

Beyond impressive. How do you EVER get work done? :)

I love how you call it “cleaning”. Ever since you referred to watching recorded shows as “cleaning your DVR”. It sounds so much nobler, like you are being really responsible by cleaning up and making more room. ;)

Work? Hmm….I don't know what that is, but I definitely don't like the sound of it.

  • http://www.danielthepoet.com DanielthePoet

Wow. Impressive. Even at half, those 30ish blog posts must require some time. What's your favorite type of blog to read?

  • http://www.danielthepoet.com DanielthePoet

Busy man. You're all so much more disciplined that I am. I have feeds I haven't caught up on in months.

  • http://www.danielthepoet.com DanielthePoet

Do you really think it's worth it to click over to Google Reader and sign in for 15 feeds?

  • http://www.danielthepoet.com DanielthePoet

I tried that once, but didn't have the patience to make it work well. I'd rather my Outlook only deal with email.

  • http://www.danielthepoet.com DanielthePoet

Fair enough. I probably wouldn't either in that case.

I started off using Bloglines a few years back, merely because of reputation. Gotta say I prefer Google Reader now, though. I enjoy the UI better.
